Best Lu Mian In Town @ Whampoa Makan Place

Best Lu Mian In Town @ Whampoa Makan Place

Been a while since I last visited Whampoa market for Singapore local food. And it was only in recent weeks when I had been frequenting the area to buy bread from the nearby traditional bakeries that I had the chance to explore further.

First up, let’s take a look at the Best Lu Mian In Town. No, it’s not my verdict, lol. It’s just the name of this lor mee stall that used to be located at Amoy Street Food Centre.

The Lu Mian ($3) came with a good portion of toppings like fried fish nuggets, crunchy flour fritters and braised pork. Spotted bean sprouts too but I was disappointed that there wasn’t any braised egg. The fish and fritters were crispy, full of flavour and didn’t ooze oil when I bit into them. The pork was a little tough because it was of a leaner cut but it was nonetheless still tasty. The gravy wasn’t overly starchy too. While I didn’t think this lor mee was the best as its gravy wasn’t as good as the one from Lor Mee 178 @ Tiong Bahru Market, it was still a robust-tasting bowl of noodles worth trying. Recommended!

  • Hi Geri, thanks for visiting us, and liking my posy on Timpana , the Maltese pasta pie.

You are so lucky to live in Singapore! We stayed there for a week and the food was amazing! I’m a big fan of Nonya cuisine and also banana leaf restaurants.

Reading and looking at your posts made me so hungary. Singapore is one big food fest!
    Cheers Mimsey

Hello Mimsey, thanks for stopping by too ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s great to know you’ve visited Singapore and that you like our local eats. Oh yes, the banana leaf restaurant is one of my favourite Indian restaurants too. Did you try their curry fish head? Scrumptious!

Looking forward to seeing you both back in Singapore in the near future. I’ll be happy to recommend more food places for you to try.

      Have a good day!

      Cheers,
      Geri
