Burp Kitchen & Bar @ Tanjong Katong Road

Merry Christmas, everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚

Burp Kitchen & Bar

Burp Kitchen & Bar (@ Bedok Reservoir Road) has recently opened its second outlet at the popular food enclave of Tanjong Katong, which is home to cuisines from all around the world.

Burp is a 15-20 minute walk from Paya Lebar MRT Station, perfect if you want to walk up an appetite before heading there for a meal. Alternatively, you can hop onto bus 43, 134 or 135 from the station bus stop (at Exit B) and alight at the 4th bus stop which is just right in front of Burp – super easy to get to.

Weekday specials

Burp Kitchen & Bar

If daytime boozing on the weekends isn’t your cup of tea, you can still come early to enjoy a delectable brunch with your family or friends. Brunch is served till 4pm on weekends.

Let’s take a look at the menu –

Burp Kitchen & Bar Menu

It’s all about Americanised comfort food here with a mix of Tex-Mex and Asian-inspired fusion dishes. Besides light bites and bar grub, you can definitely get your fill of dude food like burgers, tacos, fries and more.

Expect to find grilled sandwiches, waffles and full English breakfast at brunch time.

A decent selection of beers, cocktails, mocktails and more. Prices are very reasonable especially for the bottled beers which normally cost at least S$13 & up in a downtown pub.

Burp Kitchen & Bar

We were here for an early dinner on a Saturday and these were all the dishes we had tried.

Burp Kitchen & Bar Cha Yen

I was pleasantly surprised to see Cha Yenย (S$4.50) on the menu. I had been craving and missing the Thai iced teas I had in my recent Bangkok trip so definitely I wouldn’t miss out on ordering one. I requested for my tea to be less sweet and it was concocted to perfection. Strong brew of aromatic tea that wasn’t overpowered by milk or sugar. Pretty similar to the popular Cha Tra Mue brand. Satisfied.

Burp Kitchen & Bar Honey Beer Wings

The Honey Beer Wings (S$14) were more on the sweet side so I couldn’t taste any beer flavour in the sauce. For those who have a sweet tooth and don’t like the taste of alcohol can definitely go for this.

I liked that the batter coating wasn’t overly heavy and was somewhat aerated. The wings were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Overall, they weren’t very oily and hence not cloying too.

Each portion of wings includes 4 drumlets and 4 mid-sections with wing tips which are equivalent to 4 full chicken wings.

Burp Kitchen & Bar Coffee BBQ Wings

I preferred the Coffee BBQ Wings (S$14) that kinda reminded me of coffee ribs from tze char stalls. There was an intense coffee flavour that really stood out and it was balanced out by the savouriness and sweetness of the BBQ sauce. Also, there wasn’t any bitter aftertaste. Must order!

Burp Kitchen & Bar Totchos

The Totchos (S$12) was one of my favourite dishes of the entire meal. They were basically tater tots topped with BBQ pulled pork and cheese. You can also opt for Beef Chilli or Pulled Beef Brisket. The combination was just scrumptious. The tater tots were fried to a perfect crisp. Even though these little morsels were left aside for a while as we were busy taking photos and so on, they were still crunchy and didn’t ooze any oil at all.

The pulled pork was equally fantastic. The BBQ sauce was so flavoursome and the meat was just so tender. Another must order!

Burp Kitchen & Bar Tom Yum Chicken Mushroom Pasta

It wasn’t any overstatement to say that this was one of the best-tasting tom yum pastas I had.

The Tom Yum Chicken Mushroom Pasta (S$14) was made of linguine, diced chicken and sauteed mushrooms in a piquant tom yum sauce. The sauce was thick, creamy (from the coconut cream) and slightly spicy. It was redolent of aromatic tom yum spices that really gave it a refreshing kick. Mushrooms were earthy and the chicken meat were tender. Every strand of the pasta was coated in the sauce even though this pasta dish was quite ‘dry’ with no excess sauce. Delicious.

Burp Kitchen & Bar The Hog Burger

The Hog (S$14) consisted of a thick pork patty, cheese, caramelised onions, baby romaine, bacon and berry jam sandwiched between a brioche bun. The most delightful element of the burger was the berry jam that was sweet and tangy which really lifted the flavour of the whole dish and paired excellently with the pork patty. The meat patty was thick but it was meaty though it was also quite dry because the ground pork was very lean. However, the patty was well seasoned and it was also spiced hence the flavour was there.

I was happy that they used a brioche burger bun that was pillowy, fluffy and also tasted eggy. The bacon wasn’t the crispy type so I could still taste the layers of meat, fats and skin.

The cajun fries were nicely seasoned and had a bit of heat too. My only gripe was that the fries were underdone (could still taste bits of uncooked potato) so they didn’t have a crunchy exterior and fluffy interior.

Reasonable prices with no GST or service charge. Casual laid-back atmosphere. Awesome comfort food. Satisfied tummies.ย ????ย *burp*
