Kaison Malaysia @ AEON Tebrau City, Johor Bahru – It’s a Home Decor Wonderland

We took the bus to AEON Tebrau City while in JB as we wanted to look for some new home decor stuffs in AEON & TESCO (in the building opposite AEON Tebrau City). Time to give our house a makeover – extra excuse to spend money, haha.

At the same time, we planned to catch a movie as we remembered TGV Cinemas had a RM8 movie ticket promotion when we visited their other branch in AEON Bukit Indah previously. True enough, the one at Tebrau City also had the same deal. Basically, each movie ticket costs RM8 if you pick a seat from Row G and below, valid for all movies before 12noon daily. Only SGD2.50 for a movie – can’t get any cheaper than this! ??

For directions on how to get to AEON Tebrau City from JB Sentral/CIQ, check out my earlier post: How to get to AEON Tebrau City by bus? โ€“ Johor Bahru Shuttle Bus Guide. Bus fare still remains the same at RM2.50 per person per way. Same route, same journey time (20 mins).

AEON Tebrau City’s carpark upgrading works had been completed. There was also a new wing that housed more retail shops. The whole mall seemed to be even bigger than before which was good because it just meant there was longer retail therapy to be enjoyed, lol.

Cha Tra Mue @ AEON Tebrau City

So excited to spot Cha Tra Mue (number one Thai Iced Tea brand from the Land of Smiles) at the AEON hypermarket – it’s located just behind the deli counter for fried snacks. Looked absolutely legit ‘cos the staff was even using the same measuring cup (as in Bangkok) to concoct the drinks and the teas were served in the exact same white plastic cups.

Very reasonably priced too though Bangkok’s still cheaper. We tried both the Thai Milk Tea and Milk Green Tea – both were good in terms of sweetness level, milkiness etc but it would be even better if the tea brew was stronger.

This was part of the new wing. Various photo-spots like this that depict certain scenes from a particular culture or country could be found everywhere.

I’m not going to cover what all the new shops at the new wing are but I just want to share this one shop that you can’t miss if you adore pretty, chic home and kitchen stuffs like me.

Though all these flowers were fake, it felt more therapeutic to be here than going to the Botanic Gardens, lol.

This flower section was where I spent the longest time because I couldn’t make up my mind on what to get, lol.

Lovely laundry baskets

There were more stuffs that I couldn’t take pictures of because it was getting quite crowded and people were just in the way, lol. Expect to also see rustic & modern photo frames, Scandinavian-style cushion covers, beautiful ready-made curtains, gift packaging (boxes, ribbons, paper bags, etc) of all sorts, cute stationery (notebooks, pens, etc), sling bags & backpacks and more.

If you’ve always like Typo, Naiise, Tokyu Hands, Crate & Barrel and Monoyono style of products, you’ll sure like to shop at Kaison. Best thing is, RM-SGD currency exchange rate is just incredible – you can buy till you go mad without worrying too much, lol.

We left with 1 clock, 3 big canvas prints & 1 framed picture, 1 huge canvas photo hanger, 3 sets photo-frames, 2 potted fake plants, 1 huge Bohemian style round tray, 6 assorted bunches of fake flowers/leaves and 1 metal welcome sign. Everything for RM235 which was under SGD75. 1 small canvas was almost SGD20 at Artbox here so you can imagine how much more bang for the buck we got by shopping at Kaison in JB.

Don’t say I never share. ๐Ÿ˜‰

By the way, as we were out waiting for the bus to get back to JB Sentral, we noticed that the once-empty land behind the flyover had some construction work going on – IKEA is coming to JB! Set to open end of this year. Not bad. This area is going to become a retail park soon. Gives us more reasons to come to Tebrau City next time. Looking forward to it! ๐Ÿ™‚
