Liang Sandwich Bar – Awesome Scallion Pancake Sandwiches!

Non-stop eating action in Johor Bahru continues!

We had a mini vacation in JB just so we could have more time to mall-hop and food-hop.? If you’ve not read my previous posts, check out my review on Amerin Hotel Johor Bahru as well as the following –

to find out what we had been eating so far. No, that’s not all.?

Our next stop – Liang Sandwich Bar

You may have already come across Liang Sandwich Bar in Singapore because they have three outlets here at VivoCity, Raffles City and Bugis Junction. Or perhaps you remember seeing Jay Chou’s face when passing by any of these outlets. That’s right, Liang Sandwich Bar is actually endorsed by the Mandopop king himself.

Over in Malaysia, they have about 70 outlets and it’s very likely you can find one in any of the popular malls in JB such as City Square, KSL City, AEON Tebrau City and Paradigm Mall. For the complete list of locations, please refer to Liang Sandwich Bar Malaysia’s FB page https://www.facebook.com/liangsandwichHQ/

We visited Liang Sandwich Bar at Paradigm Mall.

Liang Sandwich Bar

The outlet is located on Level G (ground floor) of the mall.

These scallion pancake sandwiches really reminded me of tacos. It’s just nice to see how simple scallion pancakes can be brought to the next level by pairing them with various ingredients to recreate new flavours and textures.

Liang Sandwich Bar

Really a smart move by the Chinese snack chain to have Jay Chou to endorse its brand. They have expanded so rapidly that they have now more than 12,000 outlets worldwide. Pretty amazing.

Chicken Bolognese Sandwich RM8.90

Jay Chou’s choice. So we went for it. I liked that their sandwiches were all prepared on the spot upon order so this arrived in my hand piping hot and fresh. Had to wait for it to cool down before I could properly hold it up for a picture. Though this was more of a fusion flavour, I thought it was pretty unique as everything seemed to work well together. The tomatoey sauce had a bit of tang. Chicken meat was soft and tender. Lettuce added crunch. And the soft, fluffy omelette was really good too.

What I loved best was the scallion pancake itself. Flaky. Crispy. Fragrant. Absolutely delicious.

Sambal Ikan Bilis Sandwich RM7.90

Had to get this because it’s sambal ikan bilis! No regrets as it tasted divine. Spicy, salty and very flavoursome. Really added that extra kick. The anchovies were quite hard and chewy but I liked it that way, lol. This flavour isn’t available in Singapore so it’s a must try if you come here.

It’ s sad they had closed down all the shops. The news was so sudden so all the employees must have been shocked.
