Phati Thai Food @ Alexandra Village Food Centre

The husband and I specifically came by Alexandra Village Food Centre to get muffins from AJ Delights as I was craving for the Chocolate Streusel and we decided to have an early dinner here too. Not many stalls were open at the time we were there so it was a really quick decision to settle for Thai food.

Hubby had packed supper for me once from this stall and I thought their food was quite tasty even though by the time the food was brought home, it wasn’t as fresh and hot so it was a good opportunity for us to give it a try again on the spot.

It looked ordinary but this Green Curry Chicken ($4.00) was definitely one of the best I’ve had to date. The gravy was robust, rich and creamy with an intense fragrance of coconut milk. Overall, it was a perfectly balanced yet intoxicating concoction. All the spices and flavours just danced in the mouth. How appetising could this be! Portion size was more than I expected with plenty of chicken and brinjal pieces. The chicken which were mainly boneless leg and thigh meat were tender and succulent. The brinjal that were meltingly soft were so flavoursome as they had soaked up all that luscious gravy. Needless to say, the plate of white rice and the entire bowl of green curry were polished off in no time.

This was the second time I had their Pineapple Fried Rice ($4.00) and it was as good as the first time. I liked that the fried rice was nicely executed so the rice grains remained fluffy and not soggy or clumpy. There was also a nice wok hei (wok fragrance) to it. The rice were evenly coated in a turmeric-based sauce and even though there weren’t a lot of ingredients in it, the rice was tasty on its own.

As a Thai food stall in a hawker centre, Phati Thai Food clearly exceeds my expectations. Food is good; prices are reasonable. It’s an excellent choice for cheap and authentic Thai food in Singapore. Highly recommended!
