Platinum Fashion Mall in Bangkok

When you’re shopping at Pratunam Market, it’s very unlikely you will miss the Platinum Fashion Mall on the other side of the road. It is a huge wholesale fashion shopping mall which is also said to be the largest in Thailand.

Platinum Fashion Mall Bangkok

This mall is like an indoor, air-conditioned version of Chatuchak Weekend Market. If rubbing shoulders with people in narrow alleys and browsing products in a hot & stuffy environment isn’t quite your kind of thing to do, come to Platinum Fashion Mall instead.

Prices here are generally reasonable though most shops have fixed prices and will not entertain haggling. It works similarly like Pratunam Market – it’s a place for wholesale so the more you buy, the cheaper the price.

If you run an online business or blog shop or intend to go into the retail line, Platinum Fashion Mall is a good place to get things started without having to spend a bomb to stock up on trendy clothing and chic accessories. There are cargo/courier service providers in the mall so you can easily transport goods back home.

I always enjoy shopping at Platinum Fashion Mall because the environment is so much more pleasant and I can just walk around for hours in air-conditioned comfort rather than sweating it out under the sun. I bought most of my tops from here – each one was priced from 100 baht & up. Material wasn’t the best but for the price paid, I shouldn’t complain, really.

Besides clothing and accessories, there are two shops in Platinum Fashion Mall that I would like to recommend if you like cute stuffs and stationery.

The two shops are located in Zone 2 on Level 5, just next to the escalators.

Moshi Moshi Japan | Platinum Fashion Mall Bangkok

Moshi Moshi Japan is a new lifestyle store that was launched in November 2016.

It offers a plethora of trendy lifestyle goods (headphones, mobile phone cases, canvas sling bags, water bottles, etc), fashion products (tees, hats, sunglasses, etc), stationery (notepads, pencil cases, etc) and many more. Expect to see some quirky designs too.

And next to Moshi Moshi is another cute stuff haven which I’ve been patronising for the last decade, haha.

Sun Star | Platinum Fashion Mall Bangkok

Sun Star is a wholesale shop that sells all kinds of cartoon and cute character merchandise like Rilakkuma, Doraemon, Winnie The Pooh, Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse and more.

The note book aisle is always my favourite because I love collecting note books, haha. Not too sure if they are ‘official’ merchandise. Look pretty legit but I have my doubts.

To enjoy the wholesale price, you will have to either spend more than 1,000 baht in total or buy 6 pieces per category (i.e. 6 note books of different designs, 6 pencil cases, 6 water bottles, etc).

Can’t resist the urge to splurge whenever I’m in the shop so I’ll always leave with a full basket. Things are so cheap anyway! ?

Platinum Fashion Mall Food Court

I’m never a huge fan of food courts in Singapore because most of the food are quite mediocre yet over-priced compared to hawker centre food. But when in Bangkok, I do like to visit the food courts because prices are very reasonable and food standard is pretty good too if not better than some street food stalls.

The food court at Platinum Fashion Mall is located on Level 6. Before you order food, proceed to a card counter to grab a stored value card. 200 baht will be a good amount to start with if you want a main, dessert and a drink and any unused value can be refunded after your meal.

Here, you can find a good variety of local and Asian cuisines like Tom Yum Fishball Noodles, Braised Pig Trotters Rice, Kuay Teaw Ruea, Pad Thai, Mango Sticky Rice, etc.

The mixed rice stall here is one of my favourite as it serves up many different Thai dishes that are packed full of flavours and spices.

Our meal here consisted of pad thai (50 baht), kuay chap (50 baht) and mixed rice (45 baht). Pad thai had good wok hei and I highly recommend that you add chilli flakes to give it a more spicy kick. Kuay chap (you can have the normal kuay aka rice rolls, or rice vermicelli like this) is similar to our local SG version of kway chap except that all the ingredients are in the same claypot. There were pig skin, intestines, liver, stomach and roasted pork belly in it. So warm and comforting to eat. The mixed rice came with bamboo shoots and kai lan with roasted pork. The vegetables were just so fresh and crunchy. Yum.

The dessert stall here is also worth checking out.

Just look at all that colourful ingredients – so pretty and tempting.

The mango sticky rice (110 baht) here is one of the best I’ve tried in Bangkok. You can pick either plain rice or coloured rice. The mango chunks are very, very sweet and juicy. Rice has a lovely texture – neither too soft nor too hard. And the coconut sauce is perfectly balanced so it isn’t too rich or too sweet. Must try!

One of my foodie friends recommended me this waffle stall.

Didn’t really fancy a waffle then but thought I would just buy one to try.

Got the raisins waffle (20 baht). It tasted really bready like a pretzel in waffle form. The sugar coating on the outside gave it some crunch. Didn’t really like it because I prefer waffles to be crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside so this wasn’t really my kind of thing.

Spotted this Kiki Saru custard cakes stall.

Came in two flavours – cream custard and chocolate.

Bought one bag of mixed flavours to try.

This was the cream custard one.

And this was the chocolate.

They tasted just like the Japanese Taiyaki but the outside was more soft and cakey. Not bad for a snack.

Hadn’t found a decent crepe from the streets so decided to grab one here instead.

The huge banana, chocolate and cashew nut crepe (50 baht) had a really light and crispy exterior – very nicely done.

This drinks stall is a separate business on its own even though it’s located in the food court so we can’t use the stored value card here.

Got a Ovaltine Fresh Milk Tea (45 baht) which was fragrant with a light milky flavour. Not overly rich or heavy – quite a delicious concoction.
