Bean Sprouts with Firm Tofu

Stir Fried Bean Sprouts with Firm Tofu Recipe: Budget Meal Idea

The husband and I love bean sprouts because of its light and crunchy texture. Plus it is probably the cheapest vegetable you can get from the wet market (I bought mine for only $0.30!) so it’s really a very affordable dish. I try to pair bean sprouts with different ingredients for variety. If you like salted fish, check out my Stir Fried Bean Sprouts with Salted Fish Recipe too.

Stir Fried Bean Sprouts with Firm Tofu Recipe

Ingredients (serves 2-3)
250g bean sprouts, ends removed
2 pieces firm beancurd (tau kwa). cut into bite-size pieces
1 carrot, sliced
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tbsp oyster sauce mixed with 2 tbsp water
dash of fish sauce

Instructions
1. Heat a little oil in pan and pan-fry the firm beancurd till lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
2. Using the same pan, saute garlic till fragrant. Add carrots, bean sprouts and oyster sauce mixture and quick fry at high heat for 1-2 minutes.
3. Return the firm beancurd to the pan. Season with fish sauce if you like it a bit more salty and stir well.

I love my floral vegetable cutter from Daiso which I normally use to cut carrot slices so they look really pretty on any dish. I serve this dish with rice porridge which makes it a healthy and filling meal. If you need ideas for vegetable dishes, this is a good one to try. Enjoy!
