After a satisfying dinner at Victory Monument Boat Noodles Alley, we decided to randomly explore the vicinity just to walk off some calories.
I remembered the last time I came here, the Victory Monument Night Market that was just underneath the skywalk was bustling with many stalls and people. It was like one of the most happening night markets around the city because this area was a major transport hub. Many locals shopped at the market and prices were very reasonable too.

Surprisingly, this time when we were here (it was a Wednesday evening around 8pm), the whole area seemed to be very quiet. Didn’t see those makeshift stalls that were selling accessories and knick-knacks.
There were still plenty of clothing shops though.
And I guess these were what was left of the night market.
Street food selections weren’t many too.
Strawberries looking good
Bought a cup of strawberries (30 baht) that came sprinkled with chilli sugar. The strawberries were incredibly sweet and juicy. And I really liked that hint of spiciness that seemed to bring out the sweetness of the berries more. Nice.
Got a bag of dragonfruit (20 baht) from a nearby fruit cart. So sweet and juicy too.
McSlush
We came across McDonald’s and we bought a McSlush to try. This was supposed to be Sour Watermelon but it tasted like Ribena, lol. Very cold and refreshing but just too sweet.
I had heard about the move of passenger vans to bus depots in October last year which was supposed to help reduce traffic congestion around the Victory Monument area. Wondered if that had also taken away the crowd and hence brought about the demise of the night market.
