Almost 10pm and my husband and I were feeling peckish. We’d only had a sandwich each from Le P’tit Normand hours ago, and our stomachs were demanding something more substantial. That’s when Black & White Burger came to mind – just a minute’s walk from our Aparthotel Adagio Brussels Grand Place, right next to Galet where we’d grabbed breakfast earlier.
Perfect for Supper Seekers
Here’s what makes this spot brilliant for late-night cravings: Black & White Burger stays open until 11pm on weekdays, and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Actual proper food when most places have already shuttered their kitchens.
Fun fact I only discovered whilst writing this: the Black & White Burger concept was created by French YouTubers Ibrahim Tsetchoev (@IbraTV) and his partner Djam. I personally wasn’t familiar with them, but they clearly seem to have a strong local following.
Ordering Made Simple
You order via machine. No English menu available, but honestly? Not difficult to figure out. Google Translate exists if you’re stuck, though the icons are pretty self-explanatory.
Even with pre-set burgers, they let you customise. Don’t fancy fried onions? Remove them. Simple as that.
What We Ordered at Black & White Burger
Mozzarella Sticks
Stringy cheese with great texture.
Fried cheese sticks rarely disappoint, and these didn’t either. Solid starter choice.
Smash Mountain Burger (€10.90)
Double smashed Angus beef patties, raclette cheese, caramelised onions, fried onions, pepper sauce. Basically a double cheeseburger elevated with raclette.
The beef patties were moist, greasy (in the best way), tender, nicely seasoned. Buns? Soft and pillowy. The bottom bun should be black… otherwise it’s not quite black and white, isn’t it? Haha.
Mountain Burger (€12.90)
Now this is what I call a true Black & White Burger. Black charcoal bun on top, white bun on bottom. Comes with single Angus beef patty, caramelised onions, fried onions, raclette cheese, rösti, pepper sauce.
Similar to the Smash version but with one beef patty plus a rösti patty (think hashbrown-style potato patty). Nice peppery aftertaste. The black bun doesn’t taste different – charcoal’s just for colour.
The Verdict
Good, tasty burgers. They haven’t quite knocked Manhattn’s Burgers off our number one spot, but Black & White Burger delivers quality.
If you’re a burger fan in Brussels, ditch the fast food chains. Try proper burger spots like this instead. You won’t regret it. 😉
