We spotted Hidden Langkawi while walking along Pantai Tengah beach from PARKROYAL Langkawi Resort. Just a 3-4 minute walk from our hotel, this beachfront spot sits right on the sand.
We rocked up at 4pm+ on a Sunday. Pretty packed. Headed to the second floor and snagged a corner table that felt like our own private hideaway.
The Setup
Hidden Langkawi runs entirely open-air. No air-conditioning here. But ceiling fans plus that sea breeze? Not uncomfortable at all, even on a hot, humid afternoon. Evening visits probably hit different when temperatures drop.
Staff mentioned they’ve got live bands at 7pm and fire shows at 8pm, weather permitting. If you’re into performances, come later. Book ahead though. This place fills up fast.
What We Ordered
Iced Lychee Tea (RM17)
Came unsweetened, which surprised me. Found a whole canned lychee at the bottom. Bits of pulp floating around. Super refreshing because it’s not sweet at all. Loved it.
Houjicha Iced Tea (RM12)
Hubby’s pick. Sweetened but not cloying. That bitter houjicha fragrance came through strong. Solid brew.
Smoked Duck Mango Pizza (RM43)
Never tried this combo before. Mangoes are my weakness, so why not? The base? Crispy, crunchy, biscuit-like. Better than Spizza, and that’s saying something.
Thick slices of juicy smoked duck. Firm mango chunks adding that sweet-sour punch that cuts right through the duck’s saltiness. Looked cheese-light at first glance, but cutting into it revealed proper stringy, melty cheese.
Very comforting. Way better than expected.
The Seafood Platter (RM52)
Generous portion. Easy to share between a few people, especially with other dishes on the table.
- Fish: Crunchy batter, tender inside, not dried out
- Fries: Both sweet potato and regular varieties
- Prawns: Crispy enough to eat whole, tails included
- Squid: A bit hard and chewy, the only letdown
Everything’s deep-fried, but nothing felt greasy. Fresh tasting. No oil oozing out. Properly executed fried food.
The Damage
RM136.40 after 10% service charge for everything.
Final Thoughts on Hidden Langkawi
Enjoyed the vibes. The view obviously delivers. But what impressed us? The food and drinks actually matched the setting.
Initially thought this would be one of those touristy traps charging ridiculous prices for mediocre grub. Wrong. We genuinely liked everything at Hidden Langkawi.
Even if you’re not staying at PARKROYAL Langkawi Resort, make the trip. Hidden Langkawi deserves a spot on your Pantai Tengah food list. Book ahead for dinner if you want those fire shows. Otherwise, afternoon visits work perfectly fine.
