Manhattn’s Burgers became our very first meal in Brussels, and honestly, it set the bar ridiculously high for everything else that followed.
Hubby mentioned we hadn’t had a proper burger in ages. A quick Google search for the best burger places in Brussels led us to discover Manhattn’s Burgers. The reviews were glowing. We had to check it out.
The Manhattn’s Burgers Experience
This Belgian gem also has locations in Paris, France. They claim to use 100% grass-fed Irish Angus beef for their patties, which are flame-grilled for that smoky flavour. You can check out their website for the full menu.
The moment you walk into Manhattn’s Burgers, you get serious New York vibes. The energy’s infectious. People chatting, laughing and digging into their food. It’s buzzing without being overwhelming.
What We Ordered at Manhattn’s Burgers
Gatsby Burger (€14.60)
This beauty comes with Irish Angus beef, French Emmental AOP, sautéed mushrooms, grilled bacon, lettuce, and black truffle mayo.
One bite. Both of us went “hmmm” at the exact same time.
The beef patty was thick, juicy, moist. Properly grilled with that smoky char we crave. Seasoning was spot on. The bacon strips were long, adding layers of saltiness and umami-ness. The brioche bun had a crispy exterior but stayed airy inside.
And that black truffle mayo? Absolute game-changer. Fragrant, intense, earthy. Combined with the mushrooms, every element complemented each other perfectly. Nothing we didn’t like about this burger. Nothing.
Harlem Chicken Burger (€13.50)
Flame-grilled chicken, French Emmental AOP, fresh guacamole, pickled jalapeños, lettuce, and Sriracha mayo.
The chicken stayed moist and smoky. Not dry whatsoever. The avocado wasn’t super ripe, so it lacked that creamy touch we expected. Still, this was a solid chicken burger. Very good, just not mind-blowing like the Gatsby.
Sweet Potato Fries (€5)
Crispy outside, soft inside. Not greasy at all. Perfect sidekick.
Black Truffle Mayo (€2.20)
We ordered extra black truffle mayo on the side. Zero regrets. This sauce makes everything taste better.
Round Two at Manhattn’s Burgers
On our last evening in Brussels, we knew we had to get Manhattn’s Burgers again. Takeaway this time. We grabbed another Gatsby because one is never enough.
We also tried the Rockefeller Burger (€13.60) with Irish Angus beef, matured cheddar, grilled bacon, caramelised red onions, lettuce, and smokey BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce was excellent. Very satisfying burger.
But the Gatsby still reigns supreme. That creamy truffle mayo and earthy mushrooms just hit differently.
Our Verdict on Manhattn’s Burgers
We unanimously agree: the Gatsby Burger at Manhattn’s Burgers is the best burger we’ve ever had. Every time we try a new burger place now, my hubby will compare it to Manhattn’s. His verdict? “Manhattn’s still better.” Haha!
We haven’t found anything that tops it yet.
It’s not exaggerating to say we’d make a day trip to Brussels just for this burger. We would. We will.
If you’re visiting Belgium soon and you love burgers, you definitely have to check out Manhattn’s Burgers. Trust us on this one! 😉
