Myung Ga III 명가 is located on the 4th floor of Beauty World Centre, same floor as the food centre. This authentic Korean restaurant serves up some of the most genuine Korean flavours I’ve tasted in Singapore.
A Hilarious Mistake That Led to Gold
Actually, it was quite a hilarious mistake. I had come across Yogiyo Korean Restaurant on RedNote and wanted to eat there with my hubby. Both restaurants are just beside each other. I was busy taking photos outside and somehow thought both units belong to the same restaurant. And that was how I accidentally walked through the ‘side’ door and entered the wrong restaurant.
Only realised it halfway through the meal, haha. Silly me. But it was one of the best mistakes I’ve ever made because I wouldn’t have discovered Myung Ga III otherwise.
The Myung Ga III Name Confusion
As you can see from the name, Myung Ga III, you probably think that it’s somewhat related to Myung Ga I and II that are located in Bukit Timah Plaza and Tanjong Pagar Road. But no, apparently, they’re not related or affiliated in any way.
Myung Ga I/II had clarified about this on Instagram a couple of months back. If I didn’t see this, I actually thought they were from the same establishment too. Not exactly sure how their name came about but honestly who really cares about their background or history.
Myung Ga III does serve up some legit Korean food and that’s the most important thing.
Stepping Into Korea
When you enter the restaurant, you really feel like you’ve entered a family restaurant in Korea itself. The whole vibes, the Korean lady boss, Korean songs in the background – everything just transported us straight to South Korea.
Once seated, staff will place a bottle of cold barley tea on our table for us to help ourselves to. They’ll also serve up complimentary banchan, which we could enjoy while waiting for the dishes to come.
Banchan That Actually Delivers
Everything is good. There’s really nothing we don’t like. The cucumber stays crisp. The fish cake has proper depth. The kimchi’s a little spicy, not sour like some packet ones you buy from the supermarket. The japchae has that sesame oil fragrance. The lettuce salad is refreshing.
The Food That Won Our Hearts
Mul Naengmyeon (Cold Buckwheat Noodles) – $20
One of the best cold noodles I’ve had here in Singapore. Chilled with ice cold broth – on a hot day, eating this is so refreshing and appetising. The pickled radish stays crunchy, there’s half a hard-boiled egg too, plus a small slice of meat.
The noodles are firm and springy. The soup is very drinkable. This cold noodles hit every mark for authentic Korean comfort food.
Bulgogi Pajeon (Bulgogi and Green Onion Pancake) – $28
Super big like a pizza. Very tasty and nicely seasoned. Not the dry, floury type you sometimes get elsewhere. There are loads of spring onions in it. Dip it in the sauce – shiok!
This is definitely meant for sharing, but honestly, it’s so good you might not want to.
Samgyetang (Ginseng Chicken Soup) – $23
Probably a quarter of a large chicken with loads of meat that easily falls off the bones. Boiled for so long, it’s very tender. In fact, I can even chew and swallow some of the bone bits – that’s how well cooked the chicken is.
The soup is very rich and flavoursome with loads of flavour, but you can tell it’s all natural, not from additives or seasonings. Salt and pepper are given if you find it bland. For me, it’s just nice because you can taste the natural sweetness.
There were ginseng pieces too but not overwhelming. Glutinous rice in it makes it pretty much a substantial meal on its own. This is traditional Korean cooking at its finest.
Bossam (Napa Wraps with Pork) – $50
Nostalgic feel – reminds me of Chinese-style 白切肉 (poached pork belly).
Wrap it in lettuce with kimchi, garlic and sauce. Perfect combination. Doesn’t feel fatty at all.

What You Need To Know
Portion Sizes Are Massive
We over-ordered for the two of us as portion sizes are huge. What we got was probably good enough for 4 people as we were stuffed and still had to dabao. Had the leftovers for dinner which we didn’t mind.
So if you plan to visit, go there with a few people so you can share a few dishes. Trust me on this one.
Service That Cares
Friendly and helpful staff. When they served up dishes, they would tell you how to eat the dishes – what condiments to add etc. to enhance the flavour. Service was attentive too.

The Verdict
All in all, we had a wonderful meal. Everything we ordered was sublime. 100% satisfaction level. It was exactly like the Korean food we ate in South Korea before – very authentic.
Will be happy to come back again when my Korean food cravings kick in! Sometimes the best discoveries happen by accident, and Myung Ga III at Beauty World Centre proves that authentic Korean cuisine doesn’t need fancy locations – it just needs heart, skill, and respect for tradition.
