Polaberry: Instagram-Worthy Chocolate Strawberries in Amsterdam

Polaberry caught me completely off guard during my Amsterdam trip. This is one of those rare times I went for something that looks beautiful over something I knew would be delicious. Those social media feeds got me good.

Polaberry

Rocked up at Polaberry literally 6 minutes before closing time. Big mistake. The counter staff was properly rushing us. She even told us we had to pay cash because they’d already done the day’s settlement. Thank god we had notes on us.

Service Left Much to Be Desired

The staff wasn’t exactly welcoming or friendly. Not sure if she was just desperate to close shop, but the vibes were off. Only 5 varieties left when we arrived. We grabbed 4 different ones.

What You’re Actually Paying For

€11 for a box of 4 strawberries at Polaberry. Yeah, proper expensive. The packaging was nice though. We did exactly what everyone else does – brought our little box to the canal outside for photos. Very pretty, very Instagram.

Turned around and saw that same staff member leaving the shop right on time.

The Actual Strawberries

Here’s the thing about Polaberry. These are just strawberries coated with chocolate and fancy decorations. They look exquisite and atas, sure. But the sizes were inconsistent. Our box had 2 massive strawberries and 2 smaller ones.

The strawberries themselves? Very juicy and sweet. The chocolate coating was thick. Imagine a chocolate-coated strawberry version of a Magnum ice cream. That’s Polaberry. Good quality Belgian chocolate, I’ll give them that.

Worth It?

Expensive? Absolutely. Life-changing? Not quite. But Polaberry does make your canal photos look prettier, even with Amsterdam’s depressing gloomy rainy weather and grey skies.

Pro tip: Come early so you’ve got more selections. Don’t be like us, showing up before closing.

Service-wise at Polaberry could definitely be better. I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt that she had somewhere important to be. But yeah, not the warmest experience.
