Pullman Singapore Hill Street sits right behind Capitol, making it one of the most centrally located hotels you’ll find.
After lunch at Two Cranes, we walked straight over and checked in around 1:20pm. The official check-in time is 3pm, but our room was ready early. The whole process took no time at all.
Deluxe Room, 1 King Bed: First Impressions
We checked into Room 415, a Deluxe Room offering 25m² of space. At the time of writing, I checked Expedia for November 2025 rates, and a weekend stay for this room category is listed at $356 per night including taxes.
The view from our room wasn’t particularly impressive for a “city view” — it mostly overlooked the back of Capitol Building, with Swissotel The Stamford in the distance. Since our room was on a lower floor, you might want to request a higher floor when booking for a better view. Alternatively, you can consider opting for a room with a bay view, which comes at a higher rate.
The room size felt average, but the dark wooden flooring and warm lighting created a cosy atmosphere. Pullman Singapore Hill Street only opened in late 2023, so everything still looks fresh and well-maintained.
The king-size bed hit that sweet spot – not too soft, not too hard. But here’s where things went sideways. The pillows were a nightmare. One pillow? Too flat, zero neck support. Two stacked? Too high, making sleep awkward. Both my husband and I tossed and turned all night because of this.
Bathroom Layout and Amenities
The bathroom felt cramped but intelligently designed. The WC sits on the left, wash basin in the middle, shower on the right. Everything’s separated, which works well for the limited space.
The WC has a manual bidet. The wash basin area features a light-up mirror, plus C.O. Bigelow liquid soap and body lotion. They stock dental kits, shaving kit, shower cap, comb, vanity kit, and sewing kit. The shower area has C.O. Bigelow shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel.
Now for the bad news – the water pressure was rubbish. The handheld shower barely worked, and the rain shower wasn’t much better. For a hotel that opened in 2023, this was disappointing.
Instead of bottled water, Pullman Singapore Hill Street provides a GROHE Blue Filter Faucet at the bathroom sink. You get filtered water on tap, which is very eco-friendly.
Mini Bar and Work Area
The mini bar area comes with a fridge, kettle, and Nespresso machine. You get four different coffee pods, including a decaf option. Tea drinkers get Dilmah bags – jasmine green tea, chamomile, Moroccan mint green tea, and Ceylon breakfast tea.
The open wardrobe offers plenty of hanging space, though they skimp on hangers. Two thick robes hang inside.
The base has drawers where you’ll find the safe, hairdryer, and slippers. You can use the base as a bench to sit and wear your shoes. There’s a hidden pull-out compartment on the side holding an ironing board and iron.
The round table with ottoman stool and armchair works perfectly as a workstation. The complimentary Wi-Fi runs fast with stable connectivity.
Temperature Control Issues
You can adjust the aircon from the bedside. The lowest setting shows 18 degrees Celsius, but the room never actually got that cold. It felt warm at night, forcing us to lift the covers to cool down. Not ideal for a comfortable sleep.
Hotel Facilities at Pullman Singapore Hill Street
As Accor members, we got welcome drinks – red wine, white wine, beer, coffee, or tea. We headed to the rooftop bar, but a private function blocked us out. We grabbed our drinks at Madison’s instead. You show your Accor app and redeem the voucher there.
Madison’s at Level One serves breakfast from 6:30am to 10:30am (11am on weekends) at $38++ per person. Skip it. Walk out and grab local breakfast instead – you’re surrounded by better options for less money.
El Chido is the rooftop bar with a swimming pool. The swim-up bar opens from 12pm to 11pm. Want to use the pool after 6pm? You’ll need to buy food or drinks.
Level 3 swimming pool runs daily from 7am to 9pm. It sits right in front of the lobby, so privacy is minimal.
24/7 Power Fitness opens round the clock. Access it with your hotel keycard. The gym’s small, with some equipment spilling outside.
Location Benefits
Pullman Singapore Hill Street wins on location. Walk from the hotel entrance straight through the loading bay at Capitol’s back. This leads you to Level One where Cafe Kitsune sits. City Hall MRT, Raffles City, and Funan are all accessible via underground sheltered walkways.
Final Thoughts
For tourists wanting central accommodation, Pullman Singapore Hill Street delivers. The location beats most competitors, and you’re walking distance from City Hall MRT with endless food and shopping options nearby.
But for locals hunting a proper staycation? This misses the mark. The pillow situation ruined our sleep, the shower pressure was pathetic, and the aircon couldn’t maintain a cool temperature. A staycation should feel better than home. Pullman Singapore Hill Street just didn’t deliver that relaxing escape we hoped for.
