Depending on which tour operator you pick, the meeting point is usually their office within walking distance from Centraal Station. Really convenient. For this Volendam, Edam, and Zaanse Schans day tour, we met at De Ruijterkade 105, 1011 AB Amsterdam.

We ate at Restaurant De Lunch. Very fast service—food served up really fast. Friendly staff too.
We ordered:

- Mixed Fried Seafood: Calamari, kibbeling, mussels and king prawns served with homemade fries and salad
Everything was good because it’s fresh. Even the fries delivered—crispy outside, fluffy inside. No complaints about the food quality at this lunch spot.
Zaanse Schans Windmill Village
Zaanse Schans sits on the banks of the River Zaan. It’s home to original 18th and 19th century architecture. This windmill village is the highlight of any Volendam, Edam, and Zaanse Schans day tour from Amsterdam.
Wooden Shoe Factory
The wooden shoe factory does live demonstrations. They show you how a log of wood becomes a clog. Traditional Dutch craft at its finest. It’s basically free to walk around the village and explore at your own pace.
Overall Thoughts on This Day Tour
I really enjoyed this Volendam, Edam, and Zaanse Schans day tour. It gave me a deeper glimpse into the Netherlands—windmills, cheeses, and even the traditional craft of clog making. Everything was well organised, and the tour felt worth every dollar. It honestly feels like I managed to see and do so much within just a few hours.
One Small Issue
Just wished we had a little more time in Volendam. We ended up having lunch there and didn’t get much chance to explore. The thing is, if you’re not dining in, there really aren’t many grab-and-go snack options around. So if you don’t plan to have lunch, pack a sandwich or some snacks for the tour. That way you won’t “lose time” sitting down for a meal like we did.
