We hadn’t heard of Bulgogi Syo before this visit. Punggol just launched a new bus service 104 that passes by our neighbourhood, so hubby and I decided to take it for a spin. The route took us all the way to Woodleigh Mall – not bad for a lazy Sunday adventure.
While browsing through Woodleigh Mall’s store directory trying to figure out lunch, we spotted Bulgogi Syo. Korean food sounded good, but what really sealed the deal? It’s on the Eatigo app. Up to 50% off the bill at certain timings. Say no more.
Packed Even at 3pm
We told the service staff about our Eatigo reservation when we arrived. Even though it was 3pm on a Sunday – supposedly off-peak – Bulgogi Syo was packed. Had to wait a bit for a table to free up.
The staff handed us an order chit with a few items struck off since they weren’t applicable for Eatigo reservations. Pretty straightforward – just indicate what you want and pass it back to them.
Quick heads up: iced water costs $0.50 each, but it’s refillable. Came with a lemon slice.

What We Ordered at Bulgogi Syo
Kimchi Mandu ($7.90)
Started with these kimchi-flavoured fried dumplings. Crispy outside, flavoursome inside.
The texture felt like meat filling, which was interesting. Good way to kick off the meal.
Kimari ($6.90)
These crispy seaweed glass noodle rolls looked promising when they arrived at our table. I was expecting the inside to be like japchae-style noodles, but it was just pure glass noodles. Pretty plain on its own, honestly.
The garlic hangari sauce saved the day though. Pairs well together.
Cheesy Gyeran Jjim ($11.90)
This steamed egg dish with cheese came piping hot and steamy. After it cooled down, the surface sank a bit – that’s normal. It’s not as light and wobbly as chawanmushi, a bit more dense actually.
Nicely seasoned though. My only complaint? Cheese was only on top. Wished there was cheese mixed inside too.
Haemul Pancake ($15.90)
Traditional Korean pancake with fresh chives and seafood. Very crispy, which I absolutely loved. The batter wasn’t thick at all – exactly how I prefer my Korean pancakes. There’s a bit of a chew to it that gives it texture.
The accompanying dipping sauce was nice too, with a bit of kick. Found bits of prawns and squids throughout the pancake, but they were those frozen kind. Didn’t have that natural seafood sweetness you’d get from fresh stuff. Still tasty though.
Mul Naengmyeon ($12.90)
Buckwheat noodles served chilled in ice-cold tangy broth. When they served this, the staff actually used scissors to cut the noodles for us. Super thoughtful, made eating so much easier.
Really liked the noodles – very springy and chewy. Came with vinegar and mustard on the side too, so you can jazz it up if you like. I thought the original already tasted good on its own.
Simple toppings: half a hard-boiled egg, shredded cucumber, thinly sliced radish. Perfect dish to eat on a hot day in Singapore.
Duroc Samgyeobsal Steak ($19.90)
This was the highlight of our Bulgogi Syo experience. 200g of Duroc pork belly steak served with sotbap rice, geotjeori (fresh kimchi salad) and soybean paste soup.
They did a flambe show right at our table when this was served – quite the spectacle. The meat sizzled on the hotplate with other sides like onions, chives, beansprouts, kimchi and Korean fishcake.
Very hearty portion. Loved that there were so much vegetables accompanying the meat. The pork was quite thick but very tender. It wasn’t marinated though, so it’s bland on its own. Must dip into the spicy jeyuk sauce as recommended – shiok to eat.
The sotbap rice was like claypot rice with the bottom part a bit burnt. Enjoyed the fresh kimchi salad too – not as sour as regular kimchi, which was a nice change.
Final Verdict
All in all, we enjoyed this meal at Bulgogi Syo. Good portion sizes, reasonable prices. Even more affordable with that Eatigo 50% discount we used.
The flambe show added that theatrical experience which made things a little more exciting. Staff were friendly and efficient throughout our visit.
The vibes feel like a nice place for family meals and gatherings. If you’re celebrating a birthday, they’ll even give complimentary tiramisu cake with a sparkling candle. Saw the table of diners next to us celebrating – nice touch from Bulgogi Syo.
Shall bring my folks here to eat next time! 🙂
