Burgsy’s York: A Decent Burger Fix (But Not Our Champion)

After two solid hours wandering around York Castle Museum, our stomachs were grumbling. Hubby was craving a burger, so a quick Google search led us to Burgsy’s, just a five-minute stroll away. We rocked up around 1pm to a packed house but somehow nabbed the last free table. Lucky us.

The Vibe at Burgsy’s

The place was buzzing, and the staff were genuinely friendly despite the lunch rush. You can suss out their full menu here.

What We Ordered

Pulled Pork Fries at Burgsy's York UK

Pulled Pork Fries (£22)

House-smoked pulled pork piled on skinny fries with mayo and Burgsy’s Original BBQ sauce.

The pork was moist, tender, with a bit of a peppery kick. Fries themselves? Pretty average — frozen-packet vibes.

Want a Smaller Portion of Pulled Pork Fries?

Heads up — the Pulled Pork Fries on the menu is a full-sized meal, not a side portion. If you fancy a smaller helping, just top up the side fries that come with your burger for an extra £6.50. Way more sensible if you’re not absolutely starving.

Smokin’ Barrel Burger (£23.50)

Smoked streaky bacon, mushrooms, and homemade BBQ sauce.

Smokin' Barrel Burger at at Burgsy's York UK

Soft pillowy bun, juicy beef patty. Solid, meaty bite. The ketchup dip for the fries wasn’t overly sweet, which I appreciated.

Coke (£3.55) & Pressed Apple Juice (£2.90)

Standard drinks to wash it all down.

Final Verdict on Burgsy’s

Honestly? A decent meal at Burgsy’s, but nothing mind-blowing. If you’re peckish near the museum, it’ll do the job nicely. But our reigning burger champion remains Manhattn’s Burgers in Brussels — hands down, no contest.
