Daily Chicken has opened at Waterway Point, taking over the old Tiong Bahru Bakery space. I was excited because their Bugis Junction outlet has been on my list forever, and now I don’t need to travel to town.
Daily Chicken is a family-friendly Korean restaurant by the team behind Daily Beer. They specialise in Korean fried chicken. Hubby and I headed down for lunch to see if it lives up to expectations.
You can find the full menu on their website here.
What We Ordered at Daily Chicken
Daily Bibimmyeon ($8)
These spicy cold noodles come in a super small portion. Hubby could probably finish it in two mouthfuls, seriously. This dish works better as a side for their fried chicken rather than a standalone meal unless you eat like a bird.
The noodles are tangy, spicy, and sweet. Actually, a bit too sweet for my taste. But the chewy texture? Spot on.
Cheese Balls ($7 for 3 pieces)
I expected savoury but got sweet glutinous balls with cheese instead.
Not very cheesy in flavour. These lean more dessert than savoury snack. Again, too sweet for what I wanted.
Daily Gimbap ($12)
This gimbap comes with mixed vegetables, spicy stir-fried kimchi, and egg. I loved this one. Well balanced with a refreshing taste. Pair the gimbap with the kimchi for extra crunch.
Daily Chicken – Crunch ($20 for Bone-In Half Chicken)
This is their signature fried chicken, extra crispy with corn flakes and coated in garlic, sweet, and spicy seasoning. Half chicken gets you about eight pieces. Not a huge amount really. They must use small birds, ha.
But taste-wise? Very good. The inside stays moist, not dry. The outside delivers proper crunch. Slightly cheesy-tasting, which I didn’t expect but enjoyed.
Is Daily Chicken Worth It?
The fried chicken definitely delivered. Among the sides, the gimbap wins. But pricing and portions? Not value for money, honestly. We paid $56+ (incl. service charge & GST) for two people and didn’t leave feeling full or satisfied.
That said, if I’m craving Korean fried chicken, I’d come back just for the chicken. There’s no other similar spot at Waterway Point. Not worth travelling across Singapore for, but if you live in Punggol, yes, try their fried chicken. Makes a good alternative to the usual fried chicken chains.
Daily Chicken does one thing really well: their signature fried chicken. Just manage your expectations on portion sizes and come hungry for chicken, not a filling meal. 🙂
