The new McCrispy burger at McDonald’s first grabbed my attention on Thursday when I noticed a massive queue snaking outside their outlet. I was heading out for lunch and, curious about the fuss, decided to check it out.
Free Launch Day Queue Experience
Turns out McDonald’s was giving out free McCrispy burgers to celebrate the launch. The queue wasn’t ridiculously long, so I joined in. Still ended up waiting almost half an hour though, haha!
Collection was surprisingly organised and totally fuss-free. Staff handled the crowd well.
What Makes the McCrispy Burger Different
The McCrispy burger features a crispy batter coating over a juicy, whole-muscle chicken thigh patty. McDonald’s topped it with their new umami-packed smoky sauce and served it in fluffy potato buns.
Taste Test: How Does It Actually Taste?
I brought the McCrispy Burger home to eat later, so it wasn’t exactly fresh off the fryer. Even so, the outside batter stayed somewhat crispy. Impressive considering it sat around for a while.
The meat inside wasn’t dry either. That’s where the chicken thigh really shines compared to processed patty or chicken breast alternatives.
Flavour Profile
The patty reminded me of McSpicy with a hint of subtle spice. Not overwhelming, just enough kick to keep things interesting.
What I loved most was the potato bun texture. Much better than the regular McSpicy or McChicken buns. This one’s more pillowy and soft, not dry at all.
The creamy sauce genuinely had that smoky flavour they promised. Adds a nice depth that elevates the whole burger experience.
How Does It Stack Up Against Other McDonald’s Burgers?
The McCrispy Burger definitely beats the regular McChicken because it’s more interesting. The combination of textures and flavours creates a more satisfying bite.
However, when it comes to McDonald’s limited offerings, I still prefer the Samurai Burger and Ebi Burger. Those seasonal options just hit different.
Final Verdict
The McCrispy Burger isn’t amazing, but it’s solid. Better execution than standard McDonald’s chicken options.
The crispy coating holds up well, the chicken thigh stays moist, and that potato bun really makes a difference. Worth trying if you’re looking for something different from the usual McDonald’s Singapore menu.
Just don’t expect it to revolutionise your fast food experience. It’s a decent addition to McDonald’s lineup, and the McCrispy Burger delivers on its promise of being a step up from regular options. 🙂
