Mr Kneady’s at Bedok Market Place – Stumbled Upon the Best Sourdough Pizza

Honestly, we didn’t plan to come to Mr Kneady’s. The original plan was to pop by East Village at Upper Changi Road — hubby and I were already heading there so I could pick up macarons from Sugarsmith. We thought we’d squeeze in a late lunch at Schnitzel Haus Wolfgang Ranner at the same time. Didn’t realise they close between 2.30pm and 5.30pm. My bad for not checking first.

So we walked over to nearby Bedok Marketplace instead and had a look around. After a quick scout, Mr Kneady’s was the only stall that caught our eye — so pizza it was.

What Is Mr Kneady’s?

Mr Kneady’s specialises in freshly made sourdough pizzas and sourdough breads. They have two outlets — one here at Bedok Market Place and another at 33 Erskine Road. The menu isn’t massive, but everything on it looks good. We still spent a good minute or two deciding on two flavours.

You can also customise your pizza with add-ons.

The process is simple. Place your order, pay, collect a buzzer. Pizzas are made fresh upon order, so there’s a short wait. Once the buzzer goes off, head back to collect your pizza yourself.

What We Ordered

Remedy — $14

Garlic sauce, smoked chicken, red onions, mozzarella. The garlic comes through but it’s not overpowering — just enough to know it’s there. The red onions give a nice crunch. But honestly, what stood out most was the sourdough pizza crust. Thin, crunchy base, not soggy at all — and the rim edges had this satisfying chew to them. Texture and taste, both on point.

Space Oddity — $14

Tomato sauce, salami, pepperoni, mozzarella. This one’s noticeably saltier because of the salami and pepperoni — but not in a bad way. It’s just bigger on flavour. Bold, savoury, and very satisfying.

Overall Thoughts

I wasn’t expecting the pizzas to be as large as they were for $14. Genuinely good value for money. Both tasted lighter than your typical pizza — not overly rich or heavy, which I actually appreciated. The thin sourdough base keeps things from feeling too indulgent.

That said, the one thing I’d flag is that the pizzas can run a little dry. There isn’t a huge amount of sauce or cheese, so if you like your pizza saucy and loaded, just manage expectations. Because the crust is thin, the two of us still managed to finish both pizzas — though we did leave a few of the rim edges behind.

All in all, delicious sourdough pizzas at really affordable prices. It’s a bit out of the way for us, otherwise I can easily see us coming back regularly. If you love sourdough and pizza, Mr Kneady’s is a must-try. 😉
