Rempah by Chilli Padi at Anchorvale Village wasn’t our first choice for dinner. After a pickleball session, we wandered around the hawker centre upstairs. Nothing excited us. We headed to the basement where NTUC FairPrice sits. That’s when we spotted Rempah by Chilli Padi, with diners happily working through plates of nasi lemak and noodles.
The setup’s straightforward. Order via machine. Get a buzzer. Pick up from the counter when it’s ready. No fuss, no muss.
What We Ordered at Rempah by Chilli Padi
We grabbed two set meals, each with an iced barley drink:
Nasi Lemak with Chicken Cutlet Set ($7.80)
The blue rice caught my eye first. It’s coloured with butterfly pea flowers, which looks pretty but doesn’t change the taste. The basmati rice itself? Properly cooked. Good consistency. Fragrant with coconut milk the way nasi lemak should be.
The chicken cutlet had a crispy exterior and stayed juicy inside, though it seemed slightly overdone from refrying. The sambal chilli impressed me most. Well balanced. Not drowning in sugar like some places. Got proper kick. The achar provided that refreshing crunch to cut through the richness.
Dry Mee Siam Set ($7.80)
Mix in the chilli and you get concentrated dry mee siam flavours. Solid taste profile. The prawns were fresh with a meaty bite. Decent size too, not those tiny sad ones.
Comes with fried chicken, same as the nasi lemak but smaller portion.
The Homemade Barley Drink
This deserves mention. Not bottled stuff. Not overly sweet. Actually refreshing.

The food exceeded expectations, especially if you appreciate dishes with spice and punch. Will I return to Rempah by Chilli Padi? Absolutely. Got other menu items to try. 🙂
