Shake Shack Singapore Review: I Ate Their Burgers Worldwide But Never Locally Until Now

Shake Shack Singapore has been on my radar since 2019, yet somehow I’d managed to try their burgers everywhere else – the US, UK, Japan – except right here in my own backyard! Funny how travel works, isn’t it? When burger cravings hit hard one afternoon and my husband suggested Shake Shack, I practically jumped at the chance.

Where to Find Shake Shack Singapore

Six years after opening their first outlet at Jewel Changi Airport, Shake Shack Singapore has grown to 11 locations across the island:

  • 89 Neil Road
  • Jewel Changi Airport
  • Liat Towers (Orchard Road)
  • Suntec City
  • VivoCity
  • Great World
  • Gardens by the Bay
  • Westgate
  • Junction 8
  • iFly Singapore (Sentosa)
  • One Fullerton

Why We Picked the Neil Road Branch

We chose the Neil Road branch for our Shake Shack Singapore adventure – their second outlet to open. Perfect timing since I’d planned to hunt for durian desserts at Teo Hong Road afterwards. The interior completely won me over with its cosy, chic vibe. Post-lunch hour quietness meant we practically had the place to ourselves, which made the experience even better.

What We Ordered

Crinkle Cut Fries ($4.90)

I’ll admit it – I’m usually a shoestring fries person. But these crinkle cut beauties changed my mind completely. Crispy exterior, fluffy interior, perfectly salted. No sauce needed.

Pro tip: eat them fresh in-store. Takeaway just won’t do these justice.

Chicken Bites 10-count ($8.90)

Real chicken breast meat, not processed crap. The breading stays light, letting the tender, moist chicken shine through. These chicken bites demolish any fast-food nugget competition. You can actually taste the quality difference – it’s real chicken, not mystery meat moulded into bite-sized shapes.

Double ShackBurger ($13.80)

Two beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and their famous ShackSauce nestled in a soft potato bun. The beef patties get grilled to perfection on the griddle, developing that gorgeous caramelised crust that screams flavour. Fresh lettuce and tomato add the right amount of crunch and brightness. The bun strikes that perfect balance – toasted enough for texture, soft enough to bite through without everything sliding out. Every bite delivers that refreshing, satisfying taste!

Double SmokeShack ($16.00)

My absolute favourite from the Shake Shack menu. Two beef patties, American cheese, chopped cherry peppers, applewood smoked bacon, and ShackSauce in the same toasted potato bun. This burger represents pure comfort food bliss.

The rich, juicy beef paired with salty bacon creates an irresistible combination. Those cherry peppers work magic, cutting through the richness and bringing balance to every bite. If you love bacon like I do, you just have to get this burger!

Yes, It’s Pricey But Here’s Why It’s Worth It

Our meal totalled $43.60. Some might baulk at the burger prices, but Shake Shack Singapore operates in the fast-casual space, not your typical fast-food chain category. They’re not competing with McDonald’s or Burger King – they’re playing a different game entirely.

Higher-quality ingredients, made-to-order preparation, and an elevated dining experience justify the premium price tag.

Same Great Taste, No Matter Where You Go

Having tried Shake Shack across several countries, I do think the quality stays reliable. Shake Shack Singapore delivers the same high standards I’ve experienced internationally. No disappointing burgers here!

Cool Touch: That Hand-Washing Machine

They’ve installed this hand-washing machine that handles everything – soap, rinse, and paper towel dispensing – all automated. So cool!

Final Verdict

Shake Shack Singapore exceeded my expectations, even with the international benchmark I’d set from previous experiences. The Neil Road outlet specifically impressed with its ambience and service. While prices reflect the premium positioning, the quality justifies the cost. Next time I need that comfort burger fix, I’ll be heading straight back to Shake Shack! 😉
