Two Cranes Review: Korean Cafe at Capitol Singapore Worth Your Lunch Break

Two Cranes is tucked inside Capitol Singapore, and we stumbled upon it whilst hunting for lunch before our Pullman Singapore Hill Street staycation. This halal-certified Korean cafe’s minimalist setup and cosy vibe pulled us in straight away. We reached around 12:30pm and the place was packed with the working lunch crowd. Lucky for us, a table freed up just as we arrived.

Two Cranes Prawn Rolls Hit Different

We kicked things off with the Prawn Rolls ($8.90 for 4 pieces).

The exterior was properly crispy whilst the inside stayed moist. Each roll had chunks of prawn meat mixed with water chestnut for that extra crunch. They coat it with a thin layer of sweet gochujang sauce that really brings everything together. Honestly better than expected.

Soy Garlic Chicken Bowl from Two Cranes Daily Lunch Special

The Soy Garlic Chicken Bowl ($9.90) came from their Daily Lunch Special menu (11:30am to 2:30pm). Every main comes with complimentary side dishes and soup, which is solid value.

The sunny side up egg had that perfect runny yolk. The chicken was crispy outside, moist inside, packed with flavour. I reckon they’re using frozen popcorn chicken that gets fried and tossed in soy garlic sauce. Not freshly fried, but still bloody shiok to eat.

The Sides Made the Meal

The seaweed soup was light and refreshing. The fishcake, pickled radish, and kimchi were spot-on accompaniments. Two Cranes knows how to balance a bowl.

Two Cranes Lentil Bulgogi Is a Surprise Winner

I spotted vegan options on the menu. The Lentil Bulgogi ($13.90) caught my eye because you don’t usually see lentils in Korean cuisine. Zero regrets ordering this. It comes with complimentary sides but no soup.

The lentil bulgogi had massive flavour, though slightly sweet. Mushrooms gave it a meaty texture that made me forget I wasn’t eating actual meat. The boiled broccoli balanced everything out, making the dish feel wholesome and healthy.

The vegan sides were excellent too. Pickled cucumber and pickled radish provided refreshing palate cleansers. That braised lotus root was incredibly flavourful, albeit a touch sweet.

What Else You Should Know About Two Cranes

Iced water costs $0.60 per person but it’s refillable. Service was good throughout. We walked in with zero expectations and left feeling properly satisfied. The meal felt hearty without being overwhelming or sickly. The kind of food you’d happily eat weekly if you worked nearby.

Prices stated above include GST and are subject to a 10% service charge.

Two Cranes isn’t just Korean classics. Their breakfast and brunch menu includes fusion dishes like Steak & Egg and Shakshuka with Korean twists. They also serve Ginseng Chicken Soup, Kimchi Stew, and Army Stew. Prices remain reasonable for the area.

Would I Return to Two Cranes?

Absolutely. Two Cranes delivers solid Korean cafe fare without the premium markup you’d expect at Capitol Singapore. The lunch specials are worth grabbing. The vegan options actually taste good. The portions satisfy without leaving you in a food coma. This place deserves your lunch break. 😉
