There’s an unwritten rule in the snowboarding community that no matter how freezing cold it is outside, eating ice cream or gelato after a day on the slopes is strictly mandatory. Haha! So when hubby and I finished carving down the powder at Hakuba Goryu Snow Resort, we stepped back into Escal Plaza hunting for our ultimate post-snowboard treat—and the Yogorino Hakuba Goryu Store hit the spot beautifully.
I know eating frozen treats in sub-zero weather isn’t for everyone. Some folks think we’re mad for reaching for ice-cold gelato when it’s freezing outside. But honestly? There’s just something magical about stepping into a cosy ski lodge, still in your gear, and tucking into a creamy dessert. It makes the whole snowboarding experience feel complete.
The Post-Slope Craving at Escal Plaza
Riding at Goryu is an absolute blast. But between the biting mountain breeze and burning through energy on every turn, your body instantly craves two things the moment you step off the lift: a chance to rest your legs, and a quick hit of something sweet.
Where to Find Yogorino Hakuba Goryu Store
The Yogorino Hakuba Goryu Store sits on the 2nd floor of Escal Plaza at Hakuba Goryu Snow Resort. Couldn’t be more convenient. Being right inside the main base lodge makes it dead easy to pop in for a sweet treat between snowboarding sessions or as you wrap up your day.
- Location: 2nd floor, Escal Plaza, Hakuba Goryu Snow Resort
- Opening Hours: 10am – 6pm
- Heads up: Only operates during the winter ski season—a seasonal treat you can only catch while the snow is fresh!
What is Yogorino?
Founded in Verona, Italy back in 1993, Yogorino is a famous dessert brand now known worldwide for serving light, guilt-free, high-quality frozen yogurt alongside authentic Italian gelato. Everything is made with fresh, natural ingredients—which is why it never feels heavy.
Double Scoops, Double Happiness
We couldn’t settle on just one flavour, so we both grabbed double scoop cones to try more variety. Price was ¥700 for double scoops. If you’re not a cone person, cups are available too.
Hubby’s Picks: Green Tea (Matcha) & Chocolate
A timeless Japanese-meets-Italian pairing. The deep, slightly earthy matcha balanced out the smooth richness of the chocolate perfectly.
My Picks: Strawberry Sponge Cake & Strawberry Milk
A double-strawberry dream! The strawberry milk was smooth and comforting, while the strawberry sponge cake added a fun dessert-inspired twist.
The Flavour Verdict: Why Yogorino Hakuba Goryu Hits the Spot
What we loved about Yogorino’s gelato was the balance. You’d expect a heavy dessert to weigh you down after exercise, but these were not overly sweet, wonderfully creamy, and surprisingly refreshing—not cloying at all. It gave us that perfect light energy boost without making us feel sluggish before heading back out.
Besides gelato and froyo, they also do crepes, parfaits, and bubble tea.
Final Thoughts on Yogorino Hakuba Goryu Store
If you’re heading to Hakuba Goryu for snowboarding or skiing this winter, don’t skip the Yogorino Hakuba Goryu Store inside Escal Plaza. Prices are pretty reasonable considering it’s a touristy area, and it’s only available during peak winter season. Worth every penny and every calorie!
