50年 Taste of Tradition – Best Portuguese Egg Tarts in Singapore

I never had the chance to try the Portuguese egg tarts from 50年 Taste of Tradition earlier as I always turned up at an outlet at a wrong timing. Either the egg tarts were sold out because people ahead had packed dozens to go or that the tarts were still baking in the oven and were not ready yet. So bad luck lol.

Hubby and I were in AMK Central when we walked past this 50年 Taste of Tradition shop. He asked if I still wanted to try the egg tarts as there was a tray of them on display and there wasn’t a queue.

Woohoo! Sprinted over and got a box of 6 to go.

Their egg tarts are priced at $1.30 each. Four for $4.80. Six for $6.50.

Besides egg tarts, 50年 Taste of Tradition also sells traditional bread, bun and French loaf (尖头面包). There’s also a selection of spreads to choose from like kaya, pandan kaya, butter and peanut butter to go with your bread. Besides that, there are also other pastries like cheese tarts and chicken pies.

I was eyeing the Portuguese egg tarts only so didn’t get others, haha.

Wow, wow, wow. These egg tarts were really good! No wonder there were so many rave reviews about them. Super, super addictive. Regretted not buying more, lol.

Scrumptious egg tarts – gimme more!

Crispy layers of puff pastry that tasted buttery but not overly greasy. That crispiness remained even when the tarts were left aside for some time. The egg custard was also done perfectly – with egg aroma and not too sweet.

My folks enjoyed these egg tarts too even though they don’t normally eat egg tarts often. Mum even requested for a second tart, lol.

For those of you who are still eating Madeleine’s Portuguese Egg Tarts (their standard has deteriorated way too much!), it’s time for a change!

The bread is very nice. So I went back to buy at hougang branch. But the china lady with mid hair length was very rude. She even say if I don’t like can don’t come buy when I only ask her isit for mix..there wouldn’t be the Berry jam because the first time I buy have. I told her I want 16 pcs, she even give me black face. Very disappointed! Wasted to have such a staff there. 😒
