777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class – SQ 11 Review

Japan trip done. Suitcases stuffed with snacks. A few lazy hours in the ANA Business Class Lounge at Narita. Then it was time to go home. Our ride back? Singapore Airlines SQ 11, an evening departure in the 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class cabin, touching down at Changi just after 1:00am.

At around 7.5 hours, this flight sits in an awkward middle ground. It feels too long to squeeze into Economy, and too short to waste on bad sleep. So we booked Business without much debate. Our mission was simple: eat a good dinner, then sleep properly. Did SQ deliver? Mostly, yes. Here’s the full story.

Priority Boarding & First Impressions

Boarding first remains one of my favourite Business Class perks. You skip the queue. Skip the aisle shuffle while someone wrestles a giant carry-on into the overhead compartment. Just walk and sit down.

The 777-300ER cabin runs a spacious 1-2-1 layout. Every seat gets direct aisle access. Since Hubby and I travelled together, we grabbed the middle pair: 22D and 22F.

Flying solo in the middle? Or simply need a break from your partner’s face for a few hours (haha)? Slide out the sturdy centre divider and you get your own private bubble.

The SIA charm kicked in straight away. The crew greeted us by our surnames. Small touch, big difference. After weeks away, the familiar Singaporean accents around me gave me that warm “almost home” feeling.

A stewardess came by to offer me a welcome champagne almost immediately. Long travel day, so I chose orange juice instead. A warm hot towel followed. A perfect reset before take-off.

Spacious seating with lots of legroom - 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class SQ11 Tokyo to Singapore

The 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class Seat

This seat has a reputation for one thing: it’s seriously wide. Bigger frames fit comfortably. Raise the leg rest and you can sit cross-legged with room to spare. A plush patterned bolster cushion sits on the seat too. I used it for hugging and for lower-back support.

Need proof of the width? Across the aisle, a mother shared her seat with her toddler. Both slept soundly almost the entire way. That tells you everything.

In-Seat Features & Storage

SIA packs plenty of thoughtful touches into this console:

  • Lit storage cubby: It sits right beside the screen. Your passport, phone and small bits live here.
  • Power galore: The side panel houses an international AC socket, two USB ports and even an HDMI port.
  • Drink ledge & headphones: A side recess holds a bottle of Hokkaido natural water and KrisWorld noise-cancelling headphones with hygienic disposable covers.
  • Height-adjustable table: It slides out of the console with a push-latch. Raise it for laptop work, lower it for dinner.
  • Touch controls: Sleek buttons along the armrest handle lighting, recline, leg rest and the “Do Not Disturb” sign.

Padded slippers and comfy socks waited for us at our seats too.

đź’ˇ Important Tip: SIA no longer leaves full amenity kits at your seat. You now need to ask the crew for one. The kits come stocked with Penhaligon’s toiletries. I completely forgot to ask. Don’t make my mistake if you want one to take home.

KrisWorld IFE & a Small Tech Hiccup

The KrisWorld screen is big, sharp and packed with blockbusters and new releases. Plenty to keep you busy.

Big TV screen - 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class SQ11 Tokyo to Singapore

Early in the flight, Hubby’s screen and seat buttons froze completely. He pressed his call button several times. Nothing. It seemingly never reached the crew panel. So I pressed mine. A stewardess appeared at my side within seconds. She reset his system and everything behaved for the rest of the flight. Fast fix, zero fuss.

The Wi-Fi connected on the first try and stayed steady. I guess most passengers spent the flight watching movies or snoozing, not streaming.

777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class Dining: Tokyo to Singapore

SIA treats food as a headline act. This flight proved no different.

Chicken Satay - 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class SQ11 Tokyo to Singapore

1. Canapé: Signature Chicken Satay

The crew kicked off service shortly after take-off with SIA’s famous Singapore Chicken Satay. Tender, nicely charred chicken under a rich, chunky spiced peanut sauce.

The clever part? SIA threads the raw onion and cucumber onto skewers too. No cutlery needed. Neat, tidy and delicious. A 10/10 start.

2. Table Setting & Appetiser

Next, the crew laid crisp white linen, silver cutlery and butter dishes. Proper restaurant energy at 35,000 feet.

  • Appetiser: Spiced Prawn Salad with mango salsa, baby lettuces and cherry tomatoes. Plump, juicy prawns with a satisfying crunch. The sweet, zesty salsa balanced the spice nicely.

  • Bread basket: The crew circled the cabin with warm rolls. I went straight for the legendary garlic bread. Crispy crust, fragrant garlic butter. Never skip it.

3. Mains: Book the Cook

We used SIA’s Book the Cook service to pre-order our mains before the flight.

Book The Cook Lamb Chops - 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class SQ11 Tokyo to Singapore

  • My pick: Herb-Crusted Roast Lamb Chops with Garlic Confit Mash and Rosemary Jus. A real standout. Tender, succulent and free of any gamey smell or taste. The rosemary jus tasted gorgeous. Honestly, I wanted more of it. My one gripe? The grilled asparagus arrived limp and soggy. The creamy mash made up for it.

Book The Cook Angus Beef Burger - 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class SQ11 Tokyo to Singapore

  • Hubby’s pick: Grilled Angus Beef Burger with portobello mushroom, sautĂ©ed onions, cheese and wedges. It looked the part with a thick patty and melted cheese. It tasted pretty average, though. We ate Shake Shack in Tokyo the day before. No contest.

đź’ˇ Book the Cook Tip:

  • Order early: Pre-order via Manage Booking, usually up to 24 hours before departure.
  • Go premium: Book the Cook mains often beat the regular menu.

4. Dessert, Cheese & Fruits

Even stuffed, I couldn’t say no. SIA makes skipping dessert basically impossible.

  • Lemon Meringue Tart: Beautifully torched meringue over a bright, sweet-and-tangy lemon curd.

Cheeses - 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class SQ11 Tokyo to Singapore

  • Cheese Selection: Brie, sharp Gouda and crumbly Danablu blue, with red grapes, walnuts, dried apricots and Morinaga crackers. Cheese lovers, rejoice.

  • Fresh Fruit: Persimmon, red apple, sweet melon, kiwi and pineapple. A crisp, refreshing palate cleanser.

Champagne Wine Menu - 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class SQ11 Tokyo to Singapore

Drinks lovers, take note: SIA pours 2018 Piper-Heidsieck Brut Vintage Champagne, fine Burgundy whites and cocktails like the SilverKris Sling. Our lovely stewardess kept popping by to offer champagne. I felt a bit guilty turning her down.

Sleeping in 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class

After dinner, the crew dimmed the cabin lights and the whole plane settled down.

This seat doesn’t recline gradually into a bed. Instead, the seatback flips forward to create the lie-flat surface. Not sure how to unlatch it? Just ask any crew member. They’ll happily handle turndown for you.

The Angled Footwell Reality

Here’s the honest bit. On these 777-300ER Business Class seats, you lie at a diagonal. The foot cubby tucks into the corner beneath the seat shell in front of you.

  • Back sleepers: The angle can feel awkward and a little restrictive for your lower legs and feet.
  • Side sleepers: No problem at all. I sleep on my side. I curled up with the plush pillow and drifted off easily.

Quick Sleep Tips

  • Request turndown early: Ask right after dessert to maximise your rest.
  • Skip the refills: Tempting champagne aside, water helps you wake up fresher.
  • Use the “Do Not Disturb” button: The crew respects it.

777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class: Pros & Cons

What I loved:

  • Exceptionally warm, attentive crew
  • Huge, wide seat with direct aisle access
  • Excellent satay and Book the Cook service
  • Steady Wi-Fi and plenty of power options

What could improve:

  • Angled footwell feels tight for back sleepers
  • Amenity kits now need a request
  • The burger needs work
  • One call button glitch (though the crew fixed it fast)

Final Verdict: Is 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class Worth It?

Singapore Airlines still sets the benchmark for crew warmth and polished service. The attentive crew, a cracking Book the Cook main and that spacious seat made 7.5 hours fly by.

Yes, the angled foot cubby takes some getting used to if you sleep on your back. But a wide, lie-flat bed meant we landed at Changi past 1:00am feeling refreshed, not wrecked. That’s exactly what I wanted.

Would I book the 777-300ER Singapore Airlines Business Class again? In a heartbeat. Just remember to ask for that amenity kit.
