Cafe 2000 at M Hotel Singapore was our pick for a quick catchup with the folks before hubby and I jetted off to Western Australia. We’d been here before and shared our experience because the buffet menu caters perfectly to my parents’ fussy tastebuds. Plus, the live BBQ is a solid bonus.

Looks ready to eat, but these are for display only—order with the chef and they’ll cook it fresh behind!

What I Actually Ate at Cafe 2000 Festive Buffet
We went on a Friday night because we wanted the full menu with live BBQ. Since we’ve been to Cafe 2000 multiple times, I skipped the exploratory phase and went straight for my favourites: lobsters, salmon sashimi, and meats.
My Top Picks
Poached Maine Lobsters – Eat these with the Thai green sauce. Super appetising.
Salmon Sashimi – Fresh and thickly sliced. No complaints here.
Black Angus Striploin with Black Pepper Crust – Perfection with mustard.
Roasted Lamb Shoulder – No gamey flavour. Paired wonderfully with mint jelly.
Australian Tomahawk with Kampot Pepper – Surprisingly tender!
Lobster Bisque – Add your own lobster meat in for extra indulgence.
Penne in Creamy Truffle with Beef – I don’t normally eat carbs at the buffet but this was rich and comforting.
Finish everything off with a bowl (or two) of DIY ice kachang. So refreshing after all that meat and seafood.
A Small Disappointment
I was slightly disappointed this visit. There wasn’t anyone doing live BBQ at the alfresco area like previous times. Not sure if it was due to fewer reservations that evening. The already-cooked BBQ items – slipper lobsters, prawns, scallops, otah – were placed in chafing dishes outside for self-service instead. My folks still enjoyed the seafood though, as they prefer warm seafood to cold.

Snow crab legs were meaty but such a hassle to eat—saw the next table take two full plates though haha.
Why Cafe 2000 Remains a Go-To
We had a great time despite the minor hiccup. The staff at Cafe 2000 are wonderful. Always friendly with prompt, attentive service. We sat there chatting over coffee and Potong ice cream until dinner service ended and we were the only table left.
Cafe 2000 at M Hotel Singapore remains one of our go-to buffet spots. It ticks all the boxes for us. Most importantly, the folks enjoy themselves. That’s what matters. 😉
