Hup Chong Hakka Yong Dou Foo at Toa Payoh

A sense of sudden nostalgia made me stop at Braddell MRT on my way home from work. This was the area that I was so familiar with when I was working as a student care teacher while studying for my part time degree. The good old days indeed. Who can ever forget the taste of ‘sinfully’ fried yet fresh yong dou foo pieces this stall has to offer?
Normally I hate brinjals but I love them here. Soft and juicy texture with a good slab of fish paste in between. The wantons, meat balls, ngoh hiang and beancurd skin are to die for. Though they are fried, they don’t taste overly greasy.

Inside each little morsel, you get wholesome meat (not just floury paste) that is moist and succulent. Enjoy the ingredients with their own mix of chilli sauce and sweet sauce, the combination is simply heavenly.
