The Manhattan Fish Market @ Plaza Singapura

I had tried this once some years back with an ex-colleague and it didn’t leave a very deep impression in me then. Perhaps my stomach had gone out to Fish & Co. (its direct competitor). For some reasons, I decided to give it a second chance and to see if the quality (and taste) of the food had graduated with excellence over the years.

Our order consisted of crab bisque (upgraded from soup of the day by adding $3.00 to main course which also included a root beer – special lunch promotion), cream of asparagus (soup of the day & coke or sprite included with main course – special lunch promotion), fried calamari ($9.90), dory fish ‘n chips ($9.90) and cherry snapper fish ‘n chips ($12.90).

It was a fairly decent meal. Except that I found the fish ‘n chips really greasy. The chips were crispy and good though. I thought they reminded me of the cajun fries from Popeye’s and were indeed addictive. The crab bisque was a bit fishy but a dash of pepper helped. The cream of asparagus just tasted of cream – wonder where the asparagus went to. The calamaris were a bit too chewy and the batter didn’t taste great.

Enough of second chances. It’d still be Fish & Co. next time.
