Final stop of our latest JB food-hopping trip. If you’ve missed out my earlier two posts, here they are:
Restoran Ya Wang @ Jalan Segget
It Roo Cafe @ Jalan Dhoby
After two filling meals of roast duck rice and chicken chop, the last thing I wanted was another savoury or carb-loaded meal. Barely a short distance away from It Roo Cafe, we spotted The Replacement Lodge & Kitchen. Had a quick flip of the menu placed at the door, my eyes instantly lit up when I saw ‘CHURROS’ on it. And since the husband said he would like a coffee from here to wake up from his food coma, I gladly obliged 🙂
Here you go – a walking guide for those coming from City Square/JB Sentral.
Located in a quiet corner of a stretch of shop houses, The Replacement Lodge & Kitchen is a 2-in-1 of a bed & breakfast hostel and cafe. It really kind of stood out from the rest of its neighbours that looked a little old and run-down and is definitely a welcoming place for a caffeine fix in the area.
I loved its clean-looking, bistro-like outfit. Just made us feel like we were in for a chillaxing time here. And I wasn’t wrong 🙂
It wasn’t too crowded on a Friday afternoon and I loved its space and atmosphere that was near quiet and so conducive to sit back with a cuppa, chat with friends or work on your lappy.
Menu wasn’t particularly huge which made it easy to pick what we wanted from it. They served up brunch all day too so that would be something we would return for next time.
Hubby ordered the Mocha (RM11) that was smooth but tasted slightly acidic.
I had the Ice Chocolate (RM12) that was chocolatey with a touch of hazelnut flavour in it. It was like a natural-tasting Nutella drink, lol. Not very sweet too. Totally loved it.
And these were the Original Churros (RM12.90) that came sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and served with a homemade dark chocolate ganache. The churros were freshly fried – crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. They were a bit greasy but nonetheless, they were still addictively tasty. We loved that chocolate ganache that was velvety smooth and not saccharine sweet. Perfect accompaniment to the churros indeed. This was definitely one of the best and freshest churros I had. Highly recommended to all churro lovers! 🙂
There was no GST or service charge. All prices were NETT.
For those who are thinking of heading to JB for some cafe-hopping, you have to include this place into your list. Fantastic churros, friendly service, great atmosphere and reasonable prices – satisfied all my requirements to be on my favourite list of cafes that’s worth my time travelling to. 🙂
