We did a corporate dinner at 1827 Thai recently where we booked the entire restaurant for our VIP guests. This little restaurant which probably can sit up to 60 pax comfortably is located at the Art House (former Old Parliament House). It offers Thai fusion cuisine in a contemporary setting where bold colours of red, black and gold filled the restaurant with an intimate vibrancy.
While our guests enjoyed a set dinner feast of clear tom yum soup, green mango salad with scallop, thai fish cake, grilled boneless leg of chicken and glutinous rice with mango, my colleague and I had ala carte orders of olive fried rice (from where I probably tasted the hottest chilli padi ever!), roast duck curry and stir fried beef with spring onion. The food wasn’t something to die for, but the ambience redeemed itself.
