Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle 阿宗麵線 in Ximending

If you could only eat one thing in Ximending, make sure it’s Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle (阿宗麵線)! Funny thing is, mian xian (麵線 or mee sua) is never one of my preferred style of noodles previously. But I’m so addicted to Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle after trying it that I had to come back a couple of times (to eat this till shiok shiok) when I was staying in Ximending. And now writing about it just makes me crave for it again, haha. ‘Cos it has been a rainy night here and what could have really cheered me up in this depressing weather would be a piping hot bowl of 阿宗麵線!

Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle 阿宗麵線 (Ximending)

Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle has no menu as they only serve one dish i.e. flour-rice noodles (mian xian). You can choose either a Large portion (NT$75) or a Small portion (NT$60).

Once you’ve gotten your order, proceed to the condiments station and add a bit of chilli, garlic and vinegar. The vinegar is a must! Mix everything up before you dig in.

A moreish and comforting bowl of flour-rice noodles

The noodles were soft but not soggy. There were pieces of large intestines in it, which were tender with a slight chew and crunch. The intestines were very well cleaned with no unwanted odour. Loved the broth that was flavoursome yet not overly salty or starchy. And when combined with the condiments, it was even more delicious!

By the way, there is no seating space in this shop so it’s not possible to dine in. Just do exactly what others are doing. Grab your bowl of noodles and stand around to eat. 😉
