Brunch? Sorted. We’d polished off sourdough sandwiches at Bluer House Cafe and desserts at Mollie Makes in JB Old Town. Then we retreated to the hotel for a quick breather. By lunchtime, AEON Mall Tebrau City beckoned. We hadn’t visited in ages, and I’d read about a wave of new restaurants there. One name jumped out: Madam Kwan’s. Suddenly, I craved nasi bojari. Badly.
Madam Kwan’s AEON Mall Tebrau City: The Lowdown
This outlet opened in June 2026. It’s the third and newest Madam Kwan’s in Johor. You’ll find the other two at Mid Valley Southkey and Johor Premium Outlets.
Weekday Lunch Means Zero Stress

- Friendly service: Staff ushered us to a table right away.
- Easy ordering: Scan the QR code to order. Pay at the counter after your meal.
- Free water: Just ask the staff. They don’t charge extra.
What We Ordered at Madam Kwan’s
Fruit Rojak (RM20.90)
You can upgrade to a soft shell crab version. We stuck with the regular one.
- Green mango brings serious crunch and a lovely tang.
- No you tiao, sadly. Crunchy tau pok fills the gap nicely.
- Jicama, cucumber, kangkong and pineapple round it out.
- Sesame seeds and ground peanuts add fragrance and extra crunch.
Nothing amazing here. Just a good, solid rojak.
Nasi Bojari (RM32.90): The Reason I Came
This is my number one order. I first tried it 17 to 18 years ago, back when business trips kept sending me to KL. I’ve kept coming back for it ever since.
You get tri-coloured rice with assam prawns, beef rendang and a whole fried chicken leg. Half a hard-boiled egg, two cucumber slices and a tomato slice complete the plate.
- Assam prawns: Two big ones. The kitchen removes the shell from the middle section, so you can tuck in without the fuss. Nice touch.
- Beef rendang: Tender meat packed with flavour.
- Fried chicken: Well marinated, crispy skin, moist meat inside.
- Rice: Light and fluffy. Never stodgy.
Everything hits the mark. It tastes just as good as I remember. Each element shines, but the real win? Three different proteins on one plate. Variety is my cup of tea.
Cantonese Fried Beef Noodles (RM25.90)
Pick your noodles: kway teow, bee hoon, wantan mee-style noodles, or kway teow mixed with bee hoon.
- Some wok hei comes through. A bit more would make it perfect.
- The gravy doesn’t feel overly starchy or salty.
- Generous beef slices. Not super tender, but easy enough to chew.
- Too much ginger, though. I kept biting into the slices.
It tastes like a decent plate from any tze char stall. Pleasant, but forgettable.
Good to Know Before You Go
- Prices: All prices above exclude service charge and SST.
- Best time: Weekday lunch. You’ll skip the crowds.
- Must-order: Nasi bojari. No debate.
Final Verdict on Madam Kwan’s AEON Mall Tebrau City
All in all, we enjoyed a good meal. I came for the nasi bojari. It delivered. That’s all that matters to me.
Never tried nasi bojari? Start with the Madam Kwan’s version. You’ll understand why I’ve stayed loyal for almost two decades.
