Weng Kee Original Taste Ipoh Hor Fun 荣记正宗原味怡保河粉 @ Changi Village Market & Food Centre

While the husband and I were in the long queue for Mizzy Corner’s nasi lemak, a lady also in the queue recommended us to try Weng Kee’s Ipoh Hor Fun. The husband’s eyes lighted up for a brief moment as he had been a big fan of it since I brought him to try his first ever Ipoh Hor Fun a few months back at a wanton mee stall in our neighbourhood coffee shop. Anyway, we already came all the way to Changi Village, why not really.

Weng Kee occupied two stall spaces in the hawker centre but only the one on the left hand side was in full operation mode. While I noticed many ordered their signature chicken chop hor fun, we still decided to go ahead with their normal Ipoh hor fun just to find out if it was any better than the usual one that we always go for.

Ipoh Hor Fun $3.50

Ipoh Hor Fun $3.50

A delightful plate of thin, flat rice noodles swathed in a rich and thick, savoury brown sauce and topped with an array of ingredients like shredded chicken meat, sliced fish cake, fried wanton, braised mushrooms, char siew, bean sprouts and chye sim. This was perhaps the most sumptuous form of Ipoh hor fun we’d ever tried. The noodles were smooth and not clumpy. The gravy was a good balance of sweet & salty flavours. And we just enjoyed the different textures of the various ingredients. I must say, this was a darn good plate of Ipoh hor fun! Worth the queue 🙂
