We came across Dexin Chishang Fanbao (德欣池上飯包) on our way back to Angel Wings Inn after the coach dropped us off at the end of our Taroko Gorge day tour. Decided to get takeout from here to eat at our inn because we were exhausted from our day out.

They have eight different bento flavours on their menu, as follows:
- Chicken leg NT$110
- Pork chop NT$90
- Kongbak NT$90
- Sausage NT$90
- Roast pork + sausage NT$90
- Roast pork NT$90
- Signature NT$80
- Side vegetables NT$70
We arrived close to closing time, and they only had a few bento flavours left, so we ordered three different ones. They even provided us with three free cups of chilled black tea. The tea was refreshing and not overly sweet.
Signature 招牌飯 NT$80
The signature bento included sliced pork, roast pork and sausage. If you like a variety of meats, this is the one to get. Everything was delicious. The meat was not at all dry.
Every bento came with half a braised egg, vegetables, braised beancurd, and preserved radish as side dishes. The rice was fluffy and fragrant as well.
Pork Chop 排骨飯 NT$90
A substantial-looking piece of pork chop. Very well marinated. The meat was not particularly tender, but it was also not overly tough.
Kongbak Png 控肉飯 NT$90
Excellent fat-to-meat ratio. There was no greasy aftertaste. The meat was flavourful and well-braised.
Final thoughts
We were probably hungry and tired, so everything tasted even better, haha. What I like best about these bentos is that they are similar to the previous railway bentos we had, and that each rice box came with a substantial portion of meat and vegetables. Prices were high by local standards, but all of the dishes were well-executed. In general, quality and quantity corresponded to price. There was nothing we didn’t like about it. 🙂
